ETC is one of 23 local government island councils in Kiribati. It caters for the largest population outside of the main urban areas of South Tarawa and Betio.

You won’t find 5-star accommodation and services on North Tarawa, but you will find 6-star landscapes, tropical island scenery, friendly people and hospitality. Kiribati island authenticity abounds and all visitors are warmly welcomed.
North Tarawa is one of Kiribati’s larger island councils in terms of its population and land area. The Council has an elected mayor and councillors representing its 15 main villages and associated islets.
Council’s staff are administered by its Council Clerk and supported by its Island Development Officer. The Council’s centre of governance and main service facilities are located in Abaokoro.
North Tarawa provides a broad range of business investment opportunities for locals, other prospective and established Kiribati businesses and international investors. There are also numerous aid donor opportunities that can further help attract strategic and sustainable investment to North Tarawa.
